I WAS A PART OF THE CONVERSE/NIKE ALL-STAR DESIGN TEAM!

All-Star Design Team was an eight-month apprenticeship. Out of thousands of applications, only 4 were chosen. During my time with Converse, I was the junior graphic designer for men’s and women’s apparel. I worked 1:1 at Converse and Nike HQ, with some amazing designers leading the way for creativity in the Converse and Nike brands. I worked behind the scenes on some exciting projects! My line of work will be released to the public worldwide in the Spring of 2024.

Due to legality reasons, Not all projects can be displayed until early 2024

Project Includes:

Men’s and Women’s apparel (shirt/shoe) | Custom shoe design | Lots of amazing experiences

PT 1: The Combine

I was put through a two-day combine to test my design skills, innovation, and ideas. We were given two prompts and 60 minutes to come up with a solution. Prompt 1: Create a shoe design that touches on overlooked disabilities. I chose Dyslexia, a disability commonly seen in creatives. I worked with the font Dyslexie-used to make reading easier for people with chronic dyslexia and ran the campaign Think Different. The goal was to create a shoe that was hard to recognize/read at first glance but after taking time to look, the slogan ‘just think different’ shows itself. This design is what landed me the Job!

PT.2 PENSOL LEWIS SCHOOL OF DESIGN

The apprenticeship included an accelerated crash course in apparel, branding, and marketing through the groundbreaking Pensol Lewis College of Business and Design. I worked on a personal level with the great Dr. D’Wayne Edwards who taught me the importance of a brand and packaging behind the design and how to create a shoe campaign and design the parts that get overlooked on clothing. With my selected team of four, I helped build a presentation that was presented to the CEO of Nike and Converse, creative directors, and shoe design legends themselves.

Campaign:

Zaha Hadid x Converse - Ahead of the Curve, How Architecture and Apparel Collaborate.

Branding included:

Presentation Design | Apparel Design | Mockup Design

PT. 3 Sneaker School

Sneaker school was a one-week class located at Converse HQ that taught me the process of how Converse sneakers are made. I created my own custom sneakers from scratch, deciding which fabric to and stitching techniques when creating the classic canvas Converse shoe.
